The Roland B. Smith House
The Roland B. Smith House, which is located at 234 South Agee Street in Camden, is historic in many ways. The original builders of the home are unknown. An abstract reveals that Thomas M. and Mary Agee of Ageeville sold the house to Elizabeth Rose and Roland B. Smith and heirs in June, 1845.
The original structure displayed its square shaped architecture with a front porch that transverse the entire width of the house. Two large rooms dominated the front of the house, and three smaller rooms completed the home. It also had a back proch. Later, two "L" shaped rooms were added.
This home was of frame construction with plaster covering its interior rooms. Also, it featured fourteen feet ceilings inside the house.
Hamilton G. Smith, a reported descendant of Roland B. Smith, was living in the home during the 1920's. As late as the 1960's, a Miss Sattie S. Smith, was living in the home.
The Roland B. Smith House was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 and is privately owned.
